On a fasting day you deserve something better than plain cut fruit. This vrat fruit chaat takes five minutes, uses only fasting-friendly ingredients and tastes like you made an effort.
Ingredients
- 1 apple
- 1 Korean pear
- A handful of grapes
- Half a lime
- Sendha namak (rock salt)
- Crushed black pepper
Method
- Dice the apple and pear into small cubes and halve the grapes.
- Squeeze over half a lime straight away so the apple does not brown.
- Add sendha namak and a little black pepper.
- Toss and chill for ten minutes before serving.
Why sendha namak
Many households avoid regular table salt during a vrat, and most chaat masala contains it. Sendha namak keeps the chaat fasting-friendly while still giving you the salty, tangy hit.
Make it yours
- Add roasted peanuts or makhana for crunch.
- Add a handful of blueberries for colour.
- Add a pinch of roasted jeera if your family uses it during the fast.
Tip
Korean pear stays crisp and juicy even after cutting, so this chaat holds up well if you make it in the morning for later.
